Outstanding job
You're the best lawyer I ever had. Thank you for fighting for me for almost 6 years. He is a great man and a very hard worker on his cases.

Two decades of trial experience defending serious felony, murder, and federal cases across Massachusetts.

From Washington Heights to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court — a career built on tireless advocacy.
Attorney Benzaken was born and raised in the Washington Heights neighborhood in New York City, moving to Boston to attend Northeastern University School of Law. After graduation, he worked as a staff attorney for the Committee for Public Counsel Services in the Brockton office, representing indigent defendants in the Superior Court.
In 2006, Jason left the public defender's office and started a private practice focusing on criminal appeals, and soon formed Benzaken and Wood, LLP with Joshua Wood, also a former CPCS staff attorney. Although he is no longer working at the public defender's office, Attorney Benzaken remains committed to the administration of the indigent defense system in Massachusetts and has worked as the Supervising Attorney for the bar advocate program in Plymouth County since 2011.
Attorney Benzaken focuses his practice on criminal defense, post-conviction litigation and appeals, and civil rights litigation, and is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He regularly tries cases in Superior Courts throughout Massachusetts, as well as in Federal Court. Most recently, at the trial level, he has focused on serious felony cases — primarily murder cases and federal criminal offenses.

I was very fortunate to get Jason as my lawyer. I went to jail on my original charge but Jason was able to get a stay of execution and I'm currently fighting for my freedom from the streets. He has been more than a lawyer to me through this experience. I would not only recommend him, I would not use anyone else. He has kept me out of jail for over 18 months while we fight my now reopened case.

Jason Benzaken stuck with me for almost 7 years fighting a battle that went all the way to the Supreme Court (Troy J. Schoeller vs. Board of Registration of Funeral Directors and Embalmers, SJC-10980, October 26, 2012). He believed in me and fought the good fight with me. He was always reliable, and it gave me confidence to know that he had my back through everything. He researched hundreds of cases and backed all his creative arguments with solid legal facts. An amazing attorney and a good friend.
